MAY MINGLE & CR MEME ❀

OOC intro/mingle posts in Ethyraia serve a dual function as CR memes for current players. The hope is that this will encourage current players to scan through and greet our new players. Take this opportunity to get to know your fellow players, plan hatching log threads, check-in regarding the keeping of TDM threads (which can be made game canon), find plot hooks, and plan for future CR.

(In the future, we will have a thread at the top of the post for new players to link their comments, to help boost visibility — please keep an eye out for this in the future! Obviously, this round, everyone is new.)

Note: If we find that combining these functions isn't working, we'll reevaluate this set-up. Please don't hesitate to share your feedback.

REMINDERS:

INFO: Resident gunsmith of the Tower in the Last City, Banshee's an Exo- robotic humanoids that were once human but some nut decided making robo-bodies for people was the way to go for immortality, huh. ANYWAY. He's pretty soft-spoken but knows his way around weapons. He's also been rebooted over the recommended number of times (hence the 44), so his memory's not that great.
SKILLS: He's a weapons expert. Maintaining, reworking, designing, customizing and upgrading- give him some time and he'll try to make you happy. Firearms are his specialty but he's also able to work with bows and swords to some degree (Destiny swords are weird and require ammo, wut). While he's no Guardian he knows how to use weapons just as well as he works with them, so if some extra bodies are needed to fight, he won't be shy to volunteer if it'll help.
AREAS OF INTEREST: I think it's kind of early to figure.
PLANS/GOALS: Oh gosh I'm having resume flashbacks

INFO: you know how tons of anime have the mysterious, powerful older brother archetype? illumi is that for his canon, except 50% more airheaded and bizarre. he was trained to be an assassin since birth and thus he has a lot of weird skills and a super high pain threshold, and he's not shy about admitting his profession. he's VERY unbothered (its like, impossible to get a rise out of him or stress him out really, he's cool as a cucumber if you will). he's easy to talk to because he speaks in a very absentminded/laid-back way, and is surprisingly (bluntly) honest. that being said, he basically only thinks of himself and tends to think super coldly - he'll throw someone to the wolves if it means he'll survive, that kind of thing.

SKILLS: whew.... he's got a lot, here's a link to his application if you'd like to know a bit more detail! his survival skills are that he is immune to and has knowledge of many poisons and toxins, can go days without sleep or food, crazy high pain threshold, crazy high stamina, very good at killing things because of his assassin work. if he doesn't already have immunity/minimized reaction to the toxins on the planet, he is very willing to build an immunity himself by microdosing/poisoning himself intentionally over time.

the short and sweet version of his supernatural skills is that he has mind control that he can use on living or dead people. he can also manipulate his appearance, and other people's appearances. these skills might be helpful if the PCs ever had to infiltrate somewhere, illumi can change his appearance to even look barely human, so he might even be able to imitate one of the other races on the planet.

other than that, he also has really strong psychic energy, and when he emits it, it makes everyone around feel very tense/scared. he can make everyone aware of his bad vibes, basically. the main use for this on camp leviathan is that it tends to scare animals away, so this would probably be helpful in keeping low level threats away from the party™ on missions. he also has supernaturally high stealth.

AREAS OF INTEREST: i'm super interested in interacting with how trust is built between the PCs, as well as between the PCs and NPCs! i'm also really interesting in seeing what kind of other flora and fauna there is on the planet, and also the Thessyx seem super interesting too?! i was also super interested by how the adamant is abandoned... there seems to be a lot of fun stuff to explore and i'm really looking forward to it!!

PLANS/GOALS: illumi will almost certainly rub some people the wrong way and make people sus; i expect him to not expend maximum effort to save every person he can, and not care if NPC crew members die so long as he gets information out of it. i am not shy about making negative cr so i'm definitely planning for a bit of it... another thing is that because of his mind control powers, he sort of has an obsession with putting extremely powerful abilities under his control, so i will also be looking for things like that on the planet (or among the PCs even??) that would pique his interest.

CR PREFERENCES: of course everything! but here are some specifics:
📍 other assassins/mafia/criminal/underworld working types! if you're looking for someone who won't judge your characters bad/evil profession or past, he's your guy.
📍 have you got a grumpy/hard to get close to character? illumi is immune to getting offended by these types because he is so unbothered, he will put up with so much.
📍 negative cr of course i am open to; illumi is pretty cruel and will kill even innocent people if he thinks it will help him survive a sticky situation, or he will leave people behind if he doesn't think saving them is worth it. so heroic and compassionate types are bound to clash with him eventually!
📍 POSITIVE CR OF COURSE TOO, he will eat all your shitty food that you don't want because he grew up eating poison so a crumbly protein bar is like a delicacy to him. think of him as your garbage disposal. he's very competent while also being an airhead, so he's a good, if not funny ally

MISC HOOKS: yes he is a walking pin cushion, all those needles on his clothes are IN his body. he's a freak?? also he digs holes in the ground to sleep in sometimes, if the soil was not toxic he WOULD be doing this instead of sleeping in the hammocks

SKILLS: lottie's skills make up all of two things: being really allergic to everything and also.. looking fabulous. she's just a regular human with nothing out of the ordinary! so if anyone needs (half hearted) emotional or physical support - she's your gal!
AREAS OF INTEREST: verry interested in all the plants, the possible dangers and how to get everyone working together!! mostly because more plants means more allergy shenanigans for lottie. generally im interested in just about every aspect - the mystery, the eggs, the goo, the camp!
PLANS/GOALS: general plans are: get lottie to be less chaotic and less likely to have a breakdown. which means making friends and working around the new lifestyle™ in the jungle, being a survivor like in the tv shows, etc, learning how to make fire probably.
CR PREFERENCES: everything!! but here are some specifics:

✨ do you have a normie? what a coincidence.. so do i. lottie is good for a lot of reminiscing and also complaining about normal, pre-goo life

SKILLS: Varric's skills are annoyingly hard to handle in RP - he builds spy networks and gets information, and whether or not he shares that information with anyone and how much of it he shares is variable. He and I will certainly try it, though. He'll also be available to fight for a good cause, to make sure the alcohol is flowing and tales are being told, and to generally talk shit.
AREAS OF INTEREST: Right now? Just vibin'. I'm getting back into RP and it's gonna be a bit of a process :'D
PLANS/GOALS: At the moment, just getting settled in and having Varric get used to this technology and alien planet shit. Make friends, (badly) influence people. All sorts. But in the future I'd like to have him actually have a come to Jesus moment about some of his wishy-washier tendencies.
CR PREFERENCES: oh man, anything! People Varric dislikes and will be overly sarcastic with in a biting way, people Varric likes and will be overly sarcastic with in a loving way, a new found family maybe because he tragically lost his, people to shoot the shit with over a horrific moonshine concoction but who he doesn't see much otherwise, people to gossip share information with, am open to shipping....

INFO: John is a 16 year old kid who's been on the run his entire life from time-travelling sentient machines from the future who are trying to kill him before he reaches adulthood. That's because, in the future, John is the leader of the human Resistance against the machines, and they want to stop him before he can get that far. John has known about his destiny his whole life, and it's a weight he's currently struggling with. Part of him wanted to run away from it - but this world really isn't what he had in mind! Because of the life he's led, he's pretty high on paranoia and most of what he tells you about himself and his past will be a lie - or at least a half truth.
SKILLS: The good thing about spending your life in preparation for being the saviour of mankind: you have some survival skills. Part of John's childhood was spent in Mexico, where he lived off the grid learning how to shoot, hunt, defend himself and strategise. He's intelligent and a fast learner. He's also exceptional when it comes to dealing with machines, both in the hardware and software sense. He can hack government systems as easily as hotwire a car, fix your leaking sink or steal cable for you. The last one probably won't come in handy here, but you never know.
AREAS OF INTEREST: I'm interested in everything right now! I know that's not helpful, but he hasn't found a niche yet. Hopefully he will.
PLANS/GOALS: In the short term I want him to find a way of making himself useful. He'll want to help out with repairs, and get his teeth into missions because he's very tired of other people constantly making decisions for him. John wants to prove himself while insisting he has nothing to prove. Longterm, I want him to grow into himself and start accepting his destiny. But that's gonna take some time.
CR PREFERENCES: I love found family, and John honestly needs it. Also I want him to make friends - he's not always the best at that because for some reason he finds it difficult to relate to other teens, but we'll see!
MISC HOOKS: It's worth saying he's dealing with some trauma right now! The Terminator who's supposed to be on his side back home recently tried to kill him, right after he had to murder a guy to save his mother's life. He's dealing with some PTSD as a result, and he isn't properly dealing with that. It makes him more confrontational and aggressive than he would otherwise be. I want to work him through it eventually, but he'll have a long road!

PLANS/GOALS: I admittedly have no plans since I never have any real plans when joining games LMFAO but getting CR, seeing how the game is, and getting a feel for things in general are the main goals right now!

Positive or negative, people who think the android that covers literally half her face needs to lighten up and have fun somehow, people who will take advantage of how willing she is to help humans, people who are just curious about android tech, anything goes!

INFO: We did the right thing and chose a post-chip pre-rescue canonpoint. 👍 What this means for the canonblind: Catra has a mind-control chip stuck on her. It's attached directly to her nervous system, and she should probably get that removed at some point. She'll unwillingly be half-trying to deduce if there are any scientists or engineers that she can eventually (one day. who knows she might kick off first) trust to not screw it up.

She's done a lot of sleep-deprived soul searching lately and accepted that she's the biggest asshole in her life, but also hasn't taken firm action to Do anything about that yet. Still being Bratra.

In her recent history, she's been hostage on an alien ship after losing a war that she was running for, like, three years. (Really only 2, she was technically a standard Force Captain for the first year. Also, she was the bad guy. Also, she did it because her bestie broke up with her. She's a bit dramatic.) So pretty much none of this is new and approximately all of it is unwelcome to her.

SKILLS: If someone looks like they are completely screwing up, Catra will grudgingly take over/learn them a thing. Can be extended to survival skills, general (GENERAL) basic repairs (She Is Not A Mechanic, and if she realizes she can fix it based on her 0 skills she's not going to be happy with whoever was trying it before her), and war-based strategies. (including all the fun admin aspects - asset distribution/management/acquisition is her passion.) ((It's definitely not.))

Like, she can also obviously fight, but she's probably not going to have the patience to teach anyone that.

AREAS OF INTEREST: LET'S EXPLORE THIS PLACE cmon let's do it

PLANS/GOALS: Get the chip off her shoulder neck; get some sweet sweet character development going; and accidentally befriend a whole lot of weirdos.

CR PREFERENCES: I'm open for anything. Catra's very snappy and bratty, so she tends to get tense CR easily. She's also tsun af so like, most of her griping is just for the sake of not letting on about her actually Caring.

MISC HOOKS: she's a goddamn cat in a white jumpsuit, she's hard to miss. Can handwave her being sarcastic at any point ever. She deliberately chose to not participate in the TDM's rescue mission, so that may be of note to anyone who wants to consider TDM to be canon. From that point onwards, though, she'll be starting to contribute and actually pull her weight.
