OOC intro/mingle posts in Ethyraia serve a dual function as CR memes for current players. The hope is that this will encourage current players to scan through and greet our new players. Take this opportunity to get to know your fellow players, plan hatching log threads, check-in regarding the keeping of TDM threads (which can be made game canon), find plot hooks, and plan for future CR.
(In the future, we will have a thread at the top of the post for new players to link their comments, to help boost visibility — please keep an eye out for this in the future! Obviously, this round, everyone is new.)

INFO: John is a 16 year old kid who's been on the run his entire life from time-travelling sentient machines from the future who are trying to kill him before he reaches adulthood. That's because, in the future, John is the leader of the human Resistance against the machines, and they want to stop him before he can get that far. John has known about his destiny his whole life, and it's a weight he's currently struggling with. Part of him wanted to run away from it - but this world really isn't what he had in mind! Because of the life he's led, he's pretty high on paranoia and most of what he tells you about himself and his past will be a lie - or at least a half truth.
SKILLS: The good thing about spending your life in preparation for being the saviour of mankind: you have some survival skills. Part of John's childhood was spent in Mexico, where he lived off the grid learning how to shoot, hunt, defend himself and strategise. He's intelligent and a fast learner. He's also exceptional when it comes to dealing with machines, both in the hardware and software sense. He can hack government systems as easily as hotwire a car, fix your leaking sink or steal cable for you. The last one probably won't come in handy here, but you never know.
AREAS OF INTEREST: I'm interested in everything right now! I know that's not helpful, but he hasn't found a niche yet. Hopefully he will.
PLANS/GOALS: In the short term I want him to find a way of making himself useful. He'll want to help out with repairs, and get his teeth into missions because he's very tired of other people constantly making decisions for him. John wants to prove himself while insisting he has nothing to prove. Longterm, I want him to grow into himself and start accepting his destiny. But that's gonna take some time.
CR PREFERENCES: I love found family, and John honestly needs it. Also I want him to make friends - he's not always the best at that because for some reason he finds it difficult to relate to other teens, but we'll see!
MISC HOOKS: It's worth saying he's dealing with some trauma right now! The Terminator who's supposed to be on his side back home recently tried to kill him, right after he had to murder a guy to save his mother's life. He's dealing with some PTSD as a result, and he isn't properly dealing with that. It makes him more confrontational and aggressive than he would otherwise be. I want to work him through it eventually, but he'll have a long road!
