OOC intro/mingle posts in Ethyraia serve a dual function as CR memes for current players. The hope is that this will encourage current players to scan through and greet our new players. Take this opportunity to get to know your fellow players, plan hatching log threads, check-in regarding the keeping of TDM threads (which can be made game canon), find plot hooks, and plan for future CR.
(In the future, we will have a thread at the top of the post for new players to link their comments, to help boost visibility — please keep an eye out for this in the future! Obviously, this round, everyone is new.)

INFO: Nina is a soldier/spy from fantasy Russia. She can feel your heartbeat, but she tries not to pay too much attention. (Check out her permissions here; feel free to opt out, ofc) She's loud, lewd, and
treacherousactually quite loyal within a certain definition of loyalty.SKILLS: Heartrenders can sub in as healers, so she'll be spending some time each day in the Aid Station. She's also able to help deal with emotional trauma, as her abilities can adjust other people's emotions and just - ease off some pressure. She can block pain... and ofc do all these things in reverse, to humans. She's not gonna be able to automatically just stop the heartbeat of the local animals while hunting, but she is a highly trained soldier and will be able to on missions anyway. She's also got a solid base of survival skills and is good at negotiating through tense situations.
AREAS OF INTEREST: Exploring for sure, but also building up/fortifying Camp Leviathan. I'm also super interested in that hidden human base thing that 'no one knows about' and I can't wait to find out more about that. Plus, aliens!
PLANS/GOALS: Nina's been a soldier essentially since age 11 and is now, very abruptly, not. So I'm very interested in seeing her start to define herself outside of her role as a Heartrender, Grisha, and soldier. It's going to be really interesting for her to meet people who don't automatically know what she is and have a different perspective than the people in her world - in her world, even other Grisha are scared of Heartrenders and uncomfortable around them (who wants to be friends with a human lie detector?). So just... learning who she is outside of that is a big long term goal. I'd also really like to get her involved in getting to know people, strengthening the community, and doing something about the food situation...
CR PREFERENCES: Man, give me all of it.
MISC HOOKS: Nina's just been through a traumatic survival experience, and she's not interested in doing her spy front anymore, though at times she can't help falling into old habits. She's genuinely compassionate and friendly, and she really, really just enjoys life. She is a terrible singer. And about a 1/3rd of the time she's likely to be accompanied by her not!boyfriend's giant white wolf.

So we can keep the TDM game canon and talk about how we wanna end it/handwave if you like or start over? If we keep it and they go back in the cell, Nina's gonna want to talk until she stops being so freaked out about not hearing/feeling heartbeats and then be like 'okay we should go to sleep and preserve strength' and then be out like a light. So -- thoughts?

We can totally handwave and keep it for the game! Varric's pretty uneasy and freaked out himself and he's not going to notice Nina being uneasy for anything other than the same reason as him. He'll be happy to talk about whatever to keep her - and him! - sane for as long as she needs.
