MAY MINGLE & CR MEME ❀
OOC intro/mingle posts in Ethyraia serve a dual function as CR memes for current players. The hope is that this will encourage current players to scan through and greet our new players. Take this opportunity to get to know your fellow players, plan hatching log threads, check-in regarding the keeping of TDM threads (which can be made game canon), find plot hooks, and plan for future CR.
(In the future, we will have a thread at the top of the post for new players to link their comments, to help boost visibility — please keep an eye out for this in the future! Obviously, this round, everyone is new.)

INFO: in classic ya form, alina starkov is a war orphan turned savior of ravka née political prop. pulled out of the army when they found out she could summon light (and therefore get rid of the giant scar of shadow that's blockading east and west
germanyrussiaravka, she got manipulated and used by powerful people who wanted to use her, and now she's pissed. she is charming, albeit closed off with her more serious/low emotions, yet fighty and stubborn from a life spent as an ethnic minority from one of the regions ravka is at war with. she's going through two bad breakups at once — pity her.SKILLS: in addition to a great artist, scholar, and mapmaker, alina is
an absolutely terrible fighter and a glorified sun lampthe sun summoner, which means she can summon light into the form of a shield, a ... light, and maybe eventually a cool blade that dismembers people. since grisha are experimented on in her canon, it'll be touch-and-go how open she is with this.AREAS OF INTEREST: exploration in general and making the planet more habitable! she'll probably want to scope out the adamant at some point because all of this technology is new and bizarre
PLANS/GOALS: current priority is attempting to convince her eldritch abomination ex that she thinks they're still together so he doesn't do anything stupid like murder. after that, expect her to try to find grisha (read: magic) solutions to the habitability of the acid rain
and fail.CR PREFERENCES: friends please!! but also people who alina can prematurely judge for not making her life easier and then regret it later.
alina is presently on track to be
hostagequeen of ravka or a neo ravka sovereign nation of grisha, so anyone who can help her better navigate those parts of society would be fun.it'd be interesting to get her better at fighting and tracking, too, and i would like to keep her tdm content.
MISC HOOKS: alina has spent most of her first week in this over the top bulletproof formalwear now covered in egg goo, so she looks extra as hell.
she might have run into your character trying to get the egg goo out of clothes, inspecting weapons (or at least as close as they can get), and on the rat warren mission. she also can't use a phone, so uhh help her???

CHARACTER NAME: yennefer of vengerberg
CANON: the witcher (netflix)
JOURNAL:
INFO: yennefer's life has been made harder by being part elf (hence purple eyes), but it's also made her stupid powerful. the kind of stupid powerful that makes you convince yourself that power and control can maybe stand in place of the love that your parents never gave you. an 80-year-old mage, yennefer has advised puppet kings and helped protect their families, but she can never have her own — and that's really all she wants. the trouble is that she's too jilted to let anyone get close enough to want that with her either.
SKILLS: as a mage, yennefer can do most things, but her powers rely on balance. she'll be selectively choosing how to use them. she can do things like create fire, mind control, etc. in addition, she's quite scholarly and cunning, as well as well-versed in politics and tactics.
AREAS OF INTEREST: resource scarcity and politics
PLANS/GOALS: yennefer would like to see the hatchlings not be dependent on the adamant's crew anymore because she doesn't know how long their good will is going to last. to this end, she will probably ... accelerate the loss of that good will with unrepentant selfishness and mistrust.
CR PREFERENCES: in order to sustain yennefer i generally need sunshine-y types who will actively try to be her friend despite the fact that she can be deeply unlikable. please see the good in her. she's a decent person, despite ... everything. she's just really been through a lot.
i'm also interested in people who are high utility in a setting like this who she'll try to use. with these people, she'll likely put on the charm and/or play helpless in order to make them easier to maneuver.
MISC HOOKS: yennefer is a renfaire character who will need tech help. she skipped the rat warrens mission, so if anyone else stayed home, they could have bonded during that time. she'll likely spend time in the theater being awkward about children — clearly wanting to help and having zero skills and then getting angry at herself about it. i would like to keep her tdm content!
