[ Alex's look and tone both soften, and he even unconsciously slows the pace of his steps when he notices the look on his companion's face. Years of doing what he does have given him more resilience and even some level of detachment from things that he has to remind himself are a lot more upsetting to most people. Not everyone has performed an impromptu autopsy on their grandparents' kitchen table.

Detached doesn't mean he doesn't understand it though. ]


Have you seen human remains before? [ He doubts a lot of people have been in the position to find what he can imagine the rats might leave behind, let alone what an extended amount time exposed to the acid rain would do. Hell, even he's not sure he's seen anything bad as some of the possibilities he can imagine. He is, potentially, a bit too imaginative in that regard. His sister Verity may be the creative one in the family, but he's always excelled in imagining so many bad outcomes to any given situation. ]
