( Realistically speaking, Ian isn't even in the list of the top twenty candidates for a field mission. He's not a fighter really, he's not a soldier, he doesn't have a metal arm. What he does have is the closest thing to a rifle strapped to his back, because — believe it or not, he has experience doing this. Making shady, precarious runs into potentially alien infested territory was a way of life for a year. His time in New Amsterdam may have made him rusty, but it hasn't erased the muscle memory entirely.
He didn't have the ability to throw up fucking walls back then, either. So. Nate would probably look at him sideways if Ian mentioned he was going, but he's more suited for this than you'd think at first.
